Thursday, 04/06/2015

During the weekend of 6-7 June Dr. Michael Jacobides will be teaching at the ALBA Executive MBA Program the course “Capabilities-based Strategy”. Dr. Michael Jacobides holds the Sir Donald Gordon Chair for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at London Business School, where he is also an Associate Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship.

This Strategy course focuses on understanding the competitive context and its challenges, and on understanding the firm and the dynamics of its resources.  Given that this is an executive MBA, the focus isn’t primarily on the tools of strategic analysis, but rather on the application of these tools in real world situations. The objectives of this course are three-fold: First, explore conceptual frameworks and models which will assist students to analyze competitive situation and strategic dilemmas and gain insight into strategic management; second, understand what are the organizational factors which often lead firms to waste strategic opportunities; and third, work on applying strategy in real-world organizations.
