Ilias Bissias

Director of Naftika Chronika LL.M- London School of Economics, LL.B – Queen Mary College at the University of London

Ilias G. Bissias is an Attorney at law, Managing Editor of the award-winning Greek Shipping Magazine Naftika Chronika (published since 1931) and Director of the educational platform Isalos.net. He is also currently the Director of Strategy and Policy of HEMEXPO and Press Officer of SuperEco Tankes and Bulkers Management in Athens. Greece. In the past he has worked for the European Commission (1999-2002) and was a legal correspondent for Greece in the areas of air transport law and policy. Mr. Bissias holds a Bachelor and Master's Degree in Law from the University of London (LSE). In 2009 he was invited by the US State Department to visit the US on the IV Leadership Program (IVLP) and in 2019 by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to visit Norway. His trips focused on the comprehension of National laws and Policies for Shipping, Maritime Education, Innovation and social developments in areas with maritime tradition. Since 2002 Mr. Bissias has regularly lectured on the areas of international maritime policy, strategic management in shipping, corporate communications and contemporary maritime history at various educational establishments around Greece. Since 2014 he is part time and adjunct lecturer at Alba Graduate Business School, Greece teaching International Shipping Policy, Strategic Management in Shipping and Corporate Communications. His research interests include International Shipping Policy, Maritime Education, EU Transport Law and Policy, Strategic Management in the Maritime Industry and Corporate Communications. He has written numerous academic articles and participated in various research projects on these areas, both in Greece and abroad.
