There is no better way to learn about the business environment of a region or a country than to interact with some of its executives and visit local companies. As such, Alba organized, once again, a very successful specialized in shipping field trip abroad.
This time the trip took place in Oslo, Norway an important maritime nation. The purpose of the trip was to introduce the shipping students in the international business environment of shipping in Oslo-Norway (economic, political and cultural) and to complement students’ experience and knowledge of the subjects they had learnt in the classroom.
The students had the chance to visit historic Norwegian maritime companies and organizations like DNV, Fearnleys, Grieg Shipbrokers and Massterly - Wilhelmsen.
Moreover, they exposed to real life business cases, the latest theories and practices of the shipping industry, and networked with well-established shipping professionals like Mr Marius Hermansen (Group CEO Fearnleys), Mr Soren Greve (CEO Fearnleys), Ms Catrine Vestereng (VP and Business Director Tankers, Maritime DNV), Mr Jakub Walenkiewicz (Principal Market Analyst DNV) Johan Petter Tutturen (VP Special Projects DNV), Mr David Billam (shipbroker, Grieg) and Ms Pia Meling (VP Sales and Marketing, Massterly).
Last but not least students interacted outside of the classroom enhancing their bonding with each other as well as with our Alba alumni in Norway improving their social life skills and made additional contacts for their future career.
