The 16th annual HR Forum of the Greek People Management Association took place on May 16th with Alba, supporting the event once again , as an academic partner.

The President of the Association, Mr. Sotiris Stamatiou, welcomed the 250 attendees, emphasizing in his introduction the necessity for "Reskilling & Upskilling for Success". He also shared details about an exciting and innovative celebration, the International Human Resources Day , to be launched, on 20 May 2019 just few days after the HR Forum.

Local and international speekers engaged in a discussion on the overriding need for reskilling of executives, as well as the need for training -upskilling- for the new jobs created, while they focused on the role of HR in this digital -era- challenge .

Dr Eleni Lamprou, Research Fellow at Alba Graduate Business School, presented the results of the Reskilling & Upskilling for your Business & your HR Function survey, conducted in April 2019 on behalf of GPMA (SDADE) and with the support of  the Association of Chief Executives Offices (ACEO).

The main conclusions of the survey are as follows:

  • The importance of reskilling / upskilling programmes is fully recognised by Human Resources executives and General Managers.
  • It is important to explore actions and interventions, as to overcome identified challenges to the implementation of such programmes.
  • Skill gaps were identified mostly in behavioural and digital skills, as opposed to technical skills.
  • Organisations and Human Resources executives need to take action as to improve their readiness and capability respectively in managing crucial factors that have an impact on how "work" will change in the future.

The Dean of Alba, Dr. Kostantinos Axarloglou coordinated the panel discussion “What’s next for Reskilling & Upskilling in Greece?” during which Alexandros Chatzopoulos, Deputy Director General of SEV; Antonis Makris, President of SELPE and George Katiniotis  , Member of the  BoD of ACEO exchached thoughts about the needs and challenges of upskilling and reskilling.
