For the 5th consequent year, the Best Workplace competition took place in Greece for the election of the Top 20 companies.

The awards ceremony took place on March 15, 2007, at Hilton Athens. The celebratory event was honoured by the presence of Mr. Dimitris Sioufas, Minister of Development, Mr. Dimitris Kontos, General Secretary of Employment and Mr. Konstantinos Tsoutsoplidis, General Secretary of Administration of EC and Other Funds, who amongst others, presented some of the top awards.

The main sponsor of the event was Colgate Palmolive Hellas, winner of last year's competition. Sponsors were Diageo Hellas S.A. and Vivartia S.A., sponsors of specific interest media were Marketing Week and HR Professional, communications sponsor was Financial Review magazine, whereas event manager & publicity supporter was Advocate/ Burson -Marsteller.

52 companies from a wide range of activities participated in this year's 'Best Workplaces 2007' Competition. Among these companies, 23 were multinational, whereas 29 were Greek. The largest company that participated in the competition employees more than 4,500 employees, while the smallest one employees just 52. The total number of employees in these companies is approximately 20,000.

The final evaluation of the companies is based by two thirds on the answers of its employees, a fact that underlines the uniqueness of the methodology of the competition, given that the opinion of the employees is the one that has the utmost significance in the final scoring and classification of each company.

The evaluation of the companies was carried out by the Applied Research & Innovation Projects Department of ALBA Graduate Business School, and supervised by Dr. Olga Epitropaki, Associate Professor of Organizational Behavior and Human Resources Management, based on the five criteria of the Great Place to Work model: Credibility, Respect, Fairness, Pride and Camaraderie.

The top 10 companies that were awarded in the context of the Greek competition automatically became candidates for the Top 100 list with the best companies in Europe. The list will be announced on the 1st of May by the Financial Times and will be awarded in Dublin on 15th of May.
