A few days ago, on April 16-18, The Negotiation Challenge (TNC) 2020 took place, this time, online. 18 awesome teams from world’s best business and law schools and expert judges, all spread across 12 different time zones participated in this unique event that brings together international students from law and business schools across the world.
Alba MBA students, Michalis Georgiou, Alexandros Perrakis and Antonis Kotsis competed with teams from Harvard Law School, University of Cambridge, IESEG Management School, ESMT and other top schools from all over the world. Alba team ranked 4th together with Mannheim Business School.
Alexandros Perrakis summarized the team's experience in the following phrases, building on from their motivational letter: "The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes”. And according to Alexandros this is what they did! "We went on an adventure to have fun primarily and we got to compete against the top Negotiation and Business Schools in the world such as Harvard. Against all odds, we got to meet a lot of interesting people around the world, soon to realize that through our passion mainly we had brought our school on the 4th place in the world!"
From his end Michalis Georgiou mentioned that this was an amazing experience "sitting on a virtual "table" with people of different ages, background and culture allowed us to step up as negotiators, but above all, make new friends in the process"
Antonis Kotsis also shared his thoughs on the competition and mentioned "It was an amazing experience! Strongly recommended to future fellow colleagues! I hope the tradition continues and our reputation as a school preceeds for future negotiation championships."
TNC is the first truly international negotiation competition and one of the very few international competitions worldwide. The focus of TNC lies on the application of negotiation skills itself rather than on certain topics. Through compelling negotiation methods and strategies, the participating teams must prove their skills and compete through four qualification rounds. The best teams advance to the final in which they compete in front of an international jury composed of lawyers, business leaders and professors. The best team wins a trophy and a title of The Great Negotiator. 2020 Great Negotiator title was shared between Harvard and IESEG teams.
Alba has participated several times in TNC and organized the event in 2013 in Athens.
