4 Greek Companies at the Top of Europe, 2 at the top 10!

The 2008 Best Workplaces in Europe competition has been successfully concluded. The list with the 100 Best Workplaces in Europe featured in a special supplement published by the European Edition of Financial Times in the issue of May 28, 2008. The awards ceremony took place at the National Maritime Museum in London.

This year the 100 top list was divided in two lists of 50 companies each. The first list included companies with more than 500 employees and the second with less than 500 (SMEs). Microsoft was awarded as the top European Best Workplace (the Greek subsidiary was one of the countries awarded) within the list of companies with more than 500 employees, whereas within the second list, the top company was Reaktor Innovations, a company from Finland.

Piscines Ideales was included in the top 10 of the SMEs list and was also awarded with one of the 5 special prizes of the competition, the RESPECT Award. Procter & Gamble Hellas and Genesis Pharma were also included in the top 50 list. Mr. Stelios Stavridis from Piscines Ideales, Mr. Evripides and Mr. Iakovides from Genesis Pharma attended the Dublin ceremony and received their awards.

The European competition is the continuation of the annual national Best Workplace competitions that are organized in 15 European countries. In Greece, the Best Workplaces competition is organized annually since 2003 by the Great Place to Work Institute Hellas with the scientific support of ALBA Graduate Business School. The Best Workplaces competition rewards the companies that show the highest interest for the professional and personal lives of their employees.

The 100 top Best Workplaces of Europe are rapidly developing and productive companies. They have increased their revenues by 26% on average and have recruited 20,000 employees in total during the last year! The average increase in the number of employees for the top 100 companies is smaller than the average increase of their revenue, which means that people for them is not just a cost category but in fact it is a source for profit. In addition, these 100 companies receive on average 9 resumes per employee they already have, while they save enormously on recruiting and training activities since their employee turnover is no more than 8% on average.
