What does it take to turn an idea into a viable business in today’s fast-changing economy? That question shaped the 7th educational round of VentureGarden in Heraklion, Crete, where a diverse group of founders came together to transform their ideas into action.
Staying true to its core philosophy of “Helping People Grow Ideas,” the program drew significant interest from the outset and created a structured yet dynamic environment where participants could test, refine, and advance their business concepts through a hands-on approach. From February 4 to March 11, selected participants followed an intensive curriculum designed to test their business concepts within the local entrepreneurial ecosystem.
At the center of the program was a focus on validation and practical application. Participants worked to assess their Founder–Idea fit, conduct market validation, and carry out key viability tests, gaining a clearer understanding of their business potential. This process was enriched by real-world insights from guest speakers and entrepreneurs from the local ecosystem, including Marianna Papagrigoriou of Cretan Vibes, Themistoklis Koutsouras of OpenIchnos & OpenIT, and Vangelis Grassos of Oxygen Pelatologio. Additionally, a specialized session by Alpha Bank further expanded participants’ perspective, offering a closer look at the financial tools currently available to small businesses.
The round concluded on March 11 with final presentations that showcased a broad range of business ideas. From tech and SaaS solutions for hospitality, healthcare, and education to ventures with a strong community orientation, the presentations reflected both diversity of thought and practical relevance. Among the market-validated concepts presented were smart transportation applications, platforms connecting local producers with sustainable tourism, and creative retail brands, highlighting the multifaceted potential of the Cretan ecosystem.
With the completion of the educational phase, the program now moves to the Mentoring stage. Over the next two to three months, participants will take part in group mentoring sessions aimed at helping them develop structured roadmaps for growth. This phase is designed to ensure that the momentum built during the workshops translates into sustainable and actionable business development.
