ACG–RWU Collaboration Advances the Launch of Deree, The American University of Greece - ULE

April 29, 2026

The American College of Greece (ACG), in collaboration with Roger Williams University (RWU), is advancing a strategic partnership that supports the launch of Deree – The American University of Greece - ULE, marking an important milestone for higher education in Greece and creating new opportunities across the institution, including for Alba Graduate Business School.

The collaboration underpins the institution’s application for the establishment of a University Legal Entity (ULE), enabling Deree to operate within Greece’s recognized university sector while strengthening its American educational model. For business education, this development further enhances the international standing and reach of our programs.

Rooted in a shared commitment to American-style education, the partnership reflects a strong alignment between the two institutions. As RWU President Ioannis N. Miaoulis, PhD, noted in a recent discussion with President Ed Wingenbach, PhD, at the ACG Events Hall, moderated by Mary Cardaras, PhD, Director of the Demos Center, the collaboration brings together “a very similar, very compatible school, very high-quality school,” creating new opportunities to expand global reach and enrich the student experience.

Through the ULE and the launch of Deree, The American University of Greece - ULE, the institution will expand its academic offerings, introduce new programs, and provide students with greater flexibility to combine disciplines within an American-style curriculum. The collaboration also creates opportunities for student and faculty mobility, joint academic initiatives, and deeper international engagement—key elements for modern business education.

For Alba, this development carries particular significance through the benefit of AACSB accreditation for the institution’s business programs. Recognized as one of the world’s leading accreditations in business education, AACSB strengthens the international profile, academic quality, and professional value of business studies. For Alba students, this means enhanced global recognition and alignment with the highest international standards.

At its core, the initiative reflects the evolving demands of business and society, emphasizing adaptability, critical thinking, and applied knowledge. As President Wingenbach emphasized, employers increasingly seek “curiosity, the ability to learn, and the capacity to solve problems in new and changing environments.”

This direction aligns closely with Alba’s mission to prepare principled, entrepreneurial, and globally competent leaders. Through the collaboration with RWU and the launch of Deree, The American University of Greece - ULE, Alba students will benefit from an enriched academic ecosystem that connects business education in Greece with a broader international network.
