The Alba - Economist Impact Scholarship
Breathing new life into reskilling and upskilling: Futureproofing executives through education
2023, proclaimed The European Year of Skills by the European Commission, is breathing new life to lifelong learning. Upskilling and reskilling are key when it comes to facilitating the green and digital transitions of companies and people, as well as supporting them in their innovation efforts.
Acknowledging that continuous learning (even unlearning and relearning) is at the heart of agility, the Economist Impact Events for SE Europe and its academic partner, Alba Graduate Business School, are coming together to offer junior & mid-level executives the opportunity to become relevant and stay relevant in an ever-changing world: A joint scholarship to attend an MBA at Alba and a unique opportunity to enter the futureproof universe of lifelong learning and evolving.

This partial scholarship will cover 50% of the tuition fees of the MBA program for one (1) person. The scholarship is open to Economist Impact Events for SE Europe participants -who have attended physically at least one (1) Economist Impact Event in SE Europe region within the last two (2) years, and applies to the 2023-2024 academic year. For candidates based abroad, the scholarship applies for the online MBA.
As a merit-based scholarship, it will be offered to one applicant of the MBA program with excellent academic performance & potential who meets the admissions criteria of the program as stated in Alba’s website.
The evaluation of applications and the final selection will be made from Alba Graduate Business School, The American College of Greece.
Eligible candisates must submit their application online and select the “Economist Impact Scholarship” field from the related Scholarship dropdown, no later than May 31, 2023.
Terms and Conditions
1. Eligibility
1.1 Given these is an exclusive scholarship for Economist Impact Events for SE Europe, Alba will confirm with Economist Impact Events for SE Europe that the candidate has been registered and attended physically at least one (1) Economist Impact Event in SE Europe region within the last two (2) years.
1.2 The scholarship is not available to candidates currently employed to Economist Impact Events for SE Europe.
1.3 To be considered for admission, candidates must:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree
- Provide evidence of excellent command of the English language
- Have a minimum of three years substantial work experience
1.4 Candidates need to submit the online application by the given deadline. As long as the academic folder of a student is not complete, the student cannot take any fellowship that the School provides and he/she is personally liable for all expenses related to his/her studies.
1.5 All candidates will be asked to go through a personal interview.
1.6 Candidates who hold/have been granted other Alba scholarship are not eligible for the award of this Scholarship.
1.7 The Scholarship and Scholarship funds are not transferable.
1.8 No cash alternative is available and the scholarship cannot be used in place of any required deposit.
1.9 If you wish to decline a scholarship offer from us prior to registering at the Business School, please email [email protected] We will then withdraw our scholarship offer and confirm this in writing. Any offer of a place on one of our courses would not be affected. Please note that scholarship awards cannot be deferred to a subsequent year. If you do defer your entry to our course then any scholarship award will be removed. You can apply for the other scholarships the following year, but any award cannot be guaranteed.
2. Scholarship conditions
2.1 Τhe candidate who will get the scholarship must
- Accept the scholarship by the given deadline
- Meet the conditions attached to their academic offer
- Join the academic course at the given start date and before the registration deadline
- Abide by our Students & Academic Policies in force.
- Pay all outstanding tuition fees by Business School deadlines, where needed
2.2 Alba reserves the right to pause or take back a scholarship award if candidate
- breaks the terms and conditions of the scholarship
- there is misrepresentation and fraud in the application
- candidate does not meet the academic progression requirements.All students receiving scholarships on the basis of merit, either in full or in part, are expected to maintain a Cumulative Index (CI) or a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0. The CI corresponds to the average grade of all course grades that have been reported, while the GPA corresponds to the average grade of the course grades of a particular term. If both the CI and GPA of a scholarship recipient drops below 3.0, for all courses that have been completed and grades that have been announced through my ACG portal, the scholarship will be discontinued until such time as the term GPA or the CI rises to 3.0 21 and above. In such cases, the student will become personally liable for payment of tuition fees corresponding to the teaching period that follows right after the announcement of the grades of the preceding term, in which both the term GPA and the CI have been reported below 3.0. This rule does not apply to the first and the last teaching period of all Academic Programs. The Associate Dean of Academic Programs may suspend the above requirements under special circumstances with the approval of the Dean.
2.3 The maximum period that the Scholarship is active is 4 years for both full-time and part-time students.
2.4 By accepting a scholarship, you agree to:
- act as a good ambassador for Alba Graduate Business school
- take part in small number of promotional activities related to the scholarship
3. Exceptions
These Scholarship Conditions are standard for all applicants. However, exceptions may be granted to applicants based on their individual needs and circumstances.
