Dr. Tzioumis on FinTech at Economist Conference

On November 30th we joined once again, as academic partner, the Economist Revolutionary world series , this time to discussion about the challenges and opportunities Artificial Intelligence creates for Retail.
The sector is currently adopting more and more innovative solutions from the fields of AI, robotics and big data analytics, thus improving the retail process. Governments and business however need a coherent strategy in order to tap into this transformation for the benefit of the society.
Our own Dr. Kostas Tzioumis participated along with Dr. Panagiotis Kourouthanassis in the panel "Fintech and Retail: New horizons through AI" and shared his views on matter.
"Going forward, in the intensely competitive banking environment, I think that A.I.-based solutions will be overshadowed by blockchain-based solutions.... Another major innovation is the technological infrastructure of virtual currencies that aim to provide a faster and cheaper way to perform international payments. For instance, Santander has stated that about half of its international transfers are currently being processed by the Ripple platform using the XRP virtual currency."
